Because of my employment, I was unable to attend the meeting. Following some of the posts some have written about the insurance... I understand that we will now be only covered for 6 months rather than the full year that we have paid contributions for. (what will be done with all of the extra contributions???) I am fortunate to have steady work and do not have a family to provide coverage for, so I personally am not worried for myself. Unfortanately, I am very concerned for many single mothers (I can think of several immediately) and other individuals who swing and are freelancers. To tell the membership at this late date is completely unfair and many people risk loosing health care benefits they thought they were going to be provided for a full year. Is this legal? Why were we not told about this earlier, before we entered this new contribution period. I think that this is wrong and an atrocity! If anyone who attended the meeting could enlighten me on any of my questions, I would appreciate it greatly. What more can this union go through? How can we procede to change our management for honest, truth-telling, integrity-filled leaders? I think that we must evaluate this and address it immediately!
