In the past 12 hours, I’ve gotten a number of phone calls about our health coverage. I’m not going to second guess why Vincent Callaghan, Ray Polger, and Sharon Ilson indorsed this six month plan. Could it be that neither Vincent nor Ray work in the field and Sharon has a steady job, with designs of becoming Business Representative, which mean all 3 are fully covered. I understand the fund seems to be on the brink of bankruptcy, the question is how did we get into this predicament. The wardrobe local works basically under the same contracts as we do as far as I know, yet their medical plan seems to be intact. The coverage is base on earnings, $16,000 per year entitles them to 1 years HMO coverage without referrals and a $1,000 slush fund. Instead of a special meeting after the fact, there should have been a meeting before the decision was made, to get the members input. This is become a recurring theme, the members that are effected most are the last to know.
