A message from Kelly Gleason's mother, Carol Gleason...

First I would like to thank you for your lovely tribute to my wonderful daughter.

It is much easier to explain this on e-mail than to speak with everyone in person.

Kelly was diagnosed with cancer in the fall of 2006. She had two very rare and unconnected forms of the disease. After having two surgeries, that eliminated both the cancers, she found out that the pancreatic cancer had metastised to her liver where she had hundreds of small tumors. Kelly was a fighter and tried her best to get well. She did not want any pity so she avoided telling everyone except for a few close friends.

I know there has probably been rumors and speculations since she has not been attending union meetings. But she was still concerned about the pension and welfare problem and the new applicants. She was still working on union work the first week in November.

We have lost a very wonderful daughter and I have lost my closest friend, confidant and right hand. She included her father and me in everything important in her life. My heart has a huge hole in it. Every single day she would say "Have I told you today that I Love You and that I am so lucky to have you."

I selfishly want her here, but am so glad that her pain is over. She suffered severely. God granted me a great gift. I was holding her hand when she passed.

Bless all of you who prayed for her.

Carol Gleason
